Blossom Restaurant is a Vietnamese eatery located in the Arts District of Downtown Los Angeles. With a second location in the works in Silver Lake, restauranteur Duc Pham looked to change up the menu design from its flat sheet, double-sided state. By switching to a folded format, interaction with the menu is reshaped: the menu's contents are hidden from first sight, while the logo lends itself beautifully to a bit of pattern (it peeks through the offset fold) and becomes a visual feature of the place setting. Unfolded, the menu is reorganized into columns, and with careful type choices, the headings, descriptions, and Vietnamese translations are made more distinct and clear. The food, of course, remains delicious.
